GEORGETOWN SPEEDWAY HOSTS MID-ATLANTIC SPRINT SERIES DURING MID-ATLANTIC CHAMPIONSHIP WEEKEND
By ERIKA PALMAI WAGNER
Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series presented by Engler Machine and Tool heads to Delaware on October 28, 2017. Georgetown Speedway welcomes the sprint teams to compete during one of their marquis events – the STSS Modified Championship weekend race, presented by Brett Deyo Motorsports Media LLC.
Georgetown Speedway, which is located right off of Route 113 and Speedway Road in Georgetown, DE, features a thrilling half-mile clay oval that is known for its high-speeds and side-by-side on track action. The facility, which has gone through some “refreshing” restorations during the winter off-season, has a large fan friendly grandstand area, ample parking which is ideal for overnight camping. The Speedway is also just 40 minutes from Ocean City, Maryland, and just minutes away from popular Delaware beaches and hotels.
Eric Kormann, Georgetown employee and owner of MASS sponsor ERK Steering, tells Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series officials, “Over 200 truckloads of clay have been put down in hopes of some of the most exciting racing ever seen at Georgetown Speedway. We also brought in Fat Daddy’s BBQ to take over our concessions for some of the best food found at any racetrack. Though the place is a constant work in progress, painting, trash clean up, and sound system maintenance have all been on the list of improvements. We are very excited to have the 305 sprints at Georgetown Speedway, and we’re hoping for a great turnout of teams from Virginia, Pennsylvania, and the Carolinas.”
MASS officials are welcoming other RaceSaver divisions to this event without any additional handicapping, since it is after the final MASS points race. Additional race sponsorships will be announced as the date gets closer. The race purse will feature $350 to win, as well as a higher payday for the top eight finishers. Payouts will also include $150 to take the green, $35 tow money for any nonqualified teams, and $50 to all heat race winners.
