New Egypt, NJ – September 14, 2025 – The Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series (MASS) rolled into New Egypt Speedway on Saturday night for the 4th Annual Fred Bitner Memorial, and fans witnessed a commanding performance from Buddy Schweibinz, who stormed to victory in the 25-lap feature.
Starting from the eighth position, Schweibinz methodically worked his way through traffic, wasting little time before putting his car at the front of the field. Once out in clean air, there was no looking back — Schweibinz set a blistering pace, stretching his advantage to the point where he lapped up to the sixth-place car before taking the checkered flag.
The win marked Schweibinz’s third career Fred Bitner Memorial victory, adding yet another milestone to his growing resume in MASS 305 Sprint Car competition.
“This race means a lot to everyone in the pits,” Schweibinz said in victory lane. “Fred Bitner was such an important part of the racing community, and to win this event again is really special. I have to thank my crew, my family, and all of our sponsors for giving me a car capable of running anywhere I needed to tonight.”
Podium Finishers and Top Performers
While Schweibinz’s dominance was the story of the night, Tim Tanner Jr. put together a strong run of his own, climbing through the field to secure the runner-up spot. Eddie Wagner rounded out the podium with a steady drive to third.
Veteran driver Dave Brown brought home a fourth-place finish, followed by Rick Lafferty in fifth. D.J. Tanner crossed the line in sixth — the final car on the lead lap after Schweibinz’s relentless pace put much of the field a lap down.
Honoring Fred Bitner
Beyond the on-track action, the evening carried special meaning as drivers, crews, and fans gathered to celebrate the life and legacy of Fred Bitner, an engine builder, founder of Bitner Automotive, father of Mark Bitner, and supporter of the sport who passed away ten years ago.
The event, sponsored by Lee's Emergency Equipment, featured a $1,000-to-win payout plus over $3,000 in contingency bonuses, thanks to the generosity of sponsors and supporters who continue to keep Bitner’s memory alive through this annual race.
“Fred was a true racer’s racer, and nights like this are a great reminder of the impact he had on our community,” said Regional Director - Eddie Wagner. “It’s an honor to host an event that celebrates his life while giving back to the drivers who carry on the tradition of grassroots sprint car racing.”
Looking Ahead
With only a handful of events left on the 2025 schedule, the MASS championship chase remains pretty much claimed. Point leader Troy Betts, who entered the night eyeing his fourth win of the season, will look to rebound and tighten his grip on the standings as the tour heads into its final stretch at Delaware International Speedway this Saturday, September 20th.
Fans can follow updates, upcoming schedules, and contingency sponsor announcements on the official Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series website and social media pages.
