On a lively Friday night at the "Kingdom of Speed" in Swedesboro, New Jersey, the Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series (MASS) 305-sprint-car division delivered high-octane action for night one of the Ron Faison 305 Sprint Car Nationals. The standout moment: 20-year-old Petersburg, NJ driver Buddy Schweibinz seized the win in the 25-lap feature, reaffirming his status as a young but talented force in the region’s sprint-car scene.
Thirty-five Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series cars signed in for the Prelude to the Nationals Friday Night event, with four All State Auto Glass Heat Races being won by Dave Brown, Schweibinz, Timmy Bittner and Larry Mc Vay. Owen Dimm would earn the JWK Electric B-Main Victory.
Buddy Schweibinz wasted no time making his mark, after the field took the green flag. He wrested the lead right away — overtaking Jared Kreider on lap one and charged ahead. From then on, Schweibinz set the pace on the high-banks at Bridgeport, showing the experience that comes with being a multi-time series champion.
Meanwhile, behind him the battle for the podium spots heated up. Nick Sweigert worked his way past 2025 series champion Troy Betts just before a caution flag appeared on lap 17. As the laps ticked by, Schweibinz maintained a strong and consistent pace, fending off any serious challenge. Sweigert tracked hard in second, with Betts close behind in third, and Timmy Bittner tailing Betts as the laps wound down.
Schweibinz’s ability to resume his rhythm after the restart proved pivotal; he avoided the pitfalls of over-eagerness and maintained control, while others behind him had to contend with restarts, lapped traffic and slick track conditions.
In the closing stages, Schweibinz held his lead with poise. Sweigert pursued but could not find a way past, and Betts kept the pressure on for the final podium spot. As the checkered flag fell, it would be Schweibinz who would take his third MASS win of the season, Nick Sweigert, Troy Betts, Timmy Bittner and Jared Kreider completing the top 5.
