WAGNER WINS AT BRIDGEPORT IN HONOR OF THE LATE JOEY KAY

SWEDESBORO, NJ

Eddie Wagner captured his first win of the 2024 Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series season on a very emotional night, celebrating the life of everyone's friend and fellow MASS competitor Joey Kay.

"One of us had to win tonight for Joey, and I'm glad in was me," Wagner stated in a very crowded victory lane full of friends and family. "Joey was a one of a kind kind of guy, we are all going to miss him."

Joe Kay, driver of the JWK Electric No. 12, passed away tragically on June 2nd, due to a UTV accident. Kay was a friend to all, and had a contagious laugh that will forever be missed. He was a true racer and could always be seen with a big smile on his face, no matter the outcome of his night. Drivers and teams honored Kay on Sunday night by wearing red, conducting a four wide salute with a missing man in remembrance of the missing No. 12, and also conducted a helmet drive in the grandstands to collect money for Joey's wife Rachel.

Starting on the pole of the 25 lap feature event was Kay and Wagner, with Wagner maintaining the top spot for the entirety of the race. Coming from the 12th starting position was Tim Iulg who would finish second, with Buddy Schweibinz rounding out the podium in 3rd, after driving up from tenth.

Twenty-six MASS 305 Sprint Cars took place in the program, with All State Auto Glass | Vahlco Racing Wheels heat race wins going to Eddie Wagner, Dan Leaper and Phil Meisner. Brian Carber set quick time in the DCapps Carpentry Hot Lap Session with a 15.489 second lap time.

The DCB Plumbing and Heating Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series presented by Capital Renegade returns Saturday, June 22nd at New Egypt Speedway.
