Adam Carberry led all 30 laps of the DCBS Plumbing and Heating Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series presented by Capitol Renegade event on the 1/4 mile at Bridgeport Speedway this past Friday Night. Pocketing $1000 to WIN thanks to event sponsor Next Generation Construction, as well as his second win of the season with MASS, Carberry conquered a stellar field of nineteen cars with Rick Lafferty, last years quarter-mile winner Eddie Wagner, Robbie Stillwaggon and hard charging Dave Brown, who completed the top five.
The Hilltown, Pennsylvania driver looked right at home on Bridgeport's lightning-fast quarter-mile, leading all 30 laps while fending off relentless pressure from veteran challengers Rick Lafferty and Eddie Wagner in the non-stop feature. Despite the constant challenge, Carberry never wavered, hitting his marks lap after lap to secure the victory in his first appearance at the speedway.
"I really enjoyed it more than I thought I would," Carberry said in Victory Lane. "Everyone gave plenty of room to race."
A fierce battle for fourth place developed between Tim Iulg and the Stillwaggon brothers, Robbie and Ryan, before the affects of bullring styled racing resulted in contact between Iulg and Ryan Stillwaggon on Lap 18 resulted in mechanical issues that forced Iulg to retire from the race.
Ryan Stillwaggon had been fending off constant pressure from his brother, Robbie, in the battle for fourth when he spun with five laps remaining, forcing him to restart at the tail of the field. The incident opened the door for Robbie Stillwaggon and Dave Brown to wage an intense battle over the closing laps. Robbie Stillwaggon ultimately held off Brown at the checkered flag to claim fourth, while Brown rounded out the top five.
Dan Leaper, making an impressive return after his hard crash during Joey Kay Memorial Weekend, charged to a strong sixth-place finish, while Defending MASS Champion and current Points Leader Troy Betts crossed the line seventh, followed by D.J. Tanner Jr., Tyler Grau, and Ryan Stillwaggon making a comeback to complete the top ten.
Nineteen cars signed in through the pit gates, with three All State Auto Glass heat races setting the stage for the evening. Heat race victories went to Dave Brown, Ryan Stillwaggon, and Adam Carberry.
The Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series will return to action at the Quarter-Mile Coliseum in Seaford, DE for their first ever appearance at Middleford Speedway this Friday, July 17th. Gate open at 4pm, with hot laps kicking off at 6:45pm!
