FOR  IMMEDIATE RELEASE………

(May 16, 2026):  Andrew Turpin of Saylorsburg, PA captured his first ever win on the DCB Plumbing & Heating Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series tour presented by Capitol Renegade. Turpin took advantage of his front row starting position leading all 25 laps of the A-Main on Saturday night at the Bridgeport Speedway.  Turpin negotiated lapped traffic masterfully during the second half of the event and then held off a fast closing Kyle Spence in the closing laps to make his first visit ever to MASS victory lane.

“The car felt good right out of the trailer tonight, and I was happy to get into the redraw but knew I would be getting whatever number was left,” stated the elated but stunned first time winner, “I was surprised as anyone when the only number left was #1, so I knew I had to take advantage of being on the pole and here we are!”

Turpin and Eddie Wagner brought the 24 car field to the green flag with Turpin quickly taking command as third starter Tyler Grau charged up to challenge him. Wagner and Kyle Spence, who was making his first ever series start, chased the top two while 8th place starter Jon Brennfleck had moved into the top 5. Ninth starter Troy Betts took fifth away from Brennfleck just before the event’s first caution waved on lap 4 for opening night winner Tim Iulg, who slowed on the backstretch ending his evening. A 3 car frontstretch tangle on the restart saw Ryan Stillwaggon roll onto his side forcing a second attempt.

The ensuing restart would be the events last, as Grau dove under Turpin but couldn’t complete the slider attempt as Turpin maintained the lead. Spence looked impressive in his first ever start as he grabbed third from Wagner and raced side by side with Grau for second. Defending champ Betts also continued his charge as he followed suit and now was scored fourth after just 6 laps. By halfway Turpin had stretched his lead to half of a straightaway as he began to encounter lapped traffic. Grau, Spence and Betts were all racing together at this point and were looking to close in on the leader in traffic, but Turpin had other ideas, as instead he used the traffic to his advantage to stretch his lead to almost a full straightaway! However the fans had plenty of action to watch as the battle for third really began to heat up between Spence and Betts. Spence held off Betts then ran down second place Grau, battling side by side before grabbing the runner up position with 3 laps remaining. Betts followed him by Grau on the next circuit but Spence had found something and was pulling away as he closed in on the leader.  Time was not on his side though as Turpin raced across the line 1.27 seconds ahead of Spence for the biggest win of his young career so far.

Spence was very impressive getting a runner-up finish in his first start with the series.  Betts increased his point lead with his third top three finish in as many tries. Brain Carber, who was the hard charger the last time here at Bridgeport, came alive late in the race and finished 4th from his 12th starting spot. Dave Brown, winner of the last series race, completed the top 5.

Next Saturday, May 23rd, MASS will make their first-ever appearance at the Middleford Speedway in Seaford DE. Bett’s Garage Towing & Hauling will sponsor the 25 lap main event which will pay $1000 to win. Gates open at 4pm, with cars on the track at 6:45pm.

How the three car pile up started, is Ryan Stillwaggon okay, and how badly was Ryan's car destroyed. I'm a huge fan of Ryan Stillwaggon and Robbie Stillwaggon
