CODY WEST "BESTS THE REST"! EARNS FIRST CAREER WIN AT BRIDGEPORT
SWEDESBORO, NJ
JUNE 29TH, 2024
Boyertown, PA's Cody West raced to his first career Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series Sprint Car win on Saturday at Bridgeport Speedway. West, a second-generation driver and son of former URC 360 Sprint Car stand-out Randy West, is the 2021 Rookie of the Year and has since then dabbled in the Sprint Car scene, focusing mainly in the 600 Micro Sprint ranks, but just became a MASS regular in 2024.
Cody West became the fourth different winner in MASS competition on the High Banks as he raced by leader, Tim Iulg for the win in Fred Kennedy’s famed No. 56. West closed in on Iulg as the leaders raced through lapped traffic with Tim Tanner Jr. in toe also in sights of the lead. Iulg and West raced side by side on lap nineteen with Cody taking the lead with five laps to go, going on to win the 25 lap feature event.
West took the win over Dave Grube, Iulg, Mark Bitner and Kevin Nagy whose late race pass moved him into the top five. Aidan Borden finished sixth over Troy Betts, Buddy Schweibinz, Dave Brown and Ryan Stillwaggon.
Thirty MASS 305 Sprint Cars took place in the program, with All State Auto Glass | Vahlco Racing Wheels heat race wins going to Tim Tanner Jr., Tim Iulg, and Kenny Laureno. Kevin Nagy set quick time in the DCapps Carpentry Hot Lap Session with a 15.311 second lap time.
The DCB Plumbing and Heating Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series presented by Capital Renegade returns for a double header weekend on Friday July 19th, at Georgetown Speedway and then Saturday July 20th at Bridgeport Speedway.
