FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE………
(June 20, 2026): Dave Brown Jr. of Aston, PA led only one lap Saturday night at the Bridgeport Speedway, but it was the most important one, as he passed race leader Ryan Stillwaggon in the final turn to win the 25 lap feature for the DCB Plumbing & Heating Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series presented by Capitol Renegade. Brown and Stillwaggon drag raced down the final straightaway with Brown winning by about a half a car length at the line. It was Dave Brown’s second Series win of 2026, and the 14th MASS victory of his career, giving him sole possession of 2nd on the all-time win list for the Series.
“The car was working really well the last few laps, I think I only led this race for about 250 feet!” exclaimed Brown in victory lane, “I was making up ground down on the inside and I knew he probably saw my nose under him in turn two, so I just had to throw it into those final two turns and hope for the best.”
Stillwaggon grabbed the lead at the start with third starter Eddie Wagner grabbing second and taking up the chase. Wagner was closing in on Stillwaggon as the duo approached lapped traffic, when the first caution flag flew on lap 7. Wagner, who had overcome electrical issues before his heat win, grabbed the lead on the restart and immediately began to pull away as point leader Troy Betts began to pressure Brown for third. A double spin in turn 4 by Ryan Schultz and Keith Andersen slowed the action again on lap 10, lining up Stillwaggon alongside Wagner for the restart. Stillwaggon took full advantage as he used the top side of the track to take the lead back with Brown now challenging Wagner for second. Brown took the spot from Wagner with 10 laps remaining and began to try and track down Stillwaggon who was a half of a straightaway out front.
Brown began to gain on the leader each lap as 4th place Betts raced side by side with opening night winner Tim Iulg right behind Wagner in a three-car battle for third. Each lap Brown was closer to the leader, and the question on everyone’s mind was did he have enough time to catch him. With two laps to go, Brown was still five car lengths back, however he made this gap up in just one lap and as the white flag waved he was on Stillwaggon’s bumper. Brown dove under the leader in turns one and two pulling almost even only to see Stillwaggon drive back in front going down the backstretch. As they entered turn 3 Brown threw it in, driving under Stillwaggon. Brown didn’t clear him enough for the slider, and Stillwaggon came roaring back around on the outside with Brown winning the drag race out of turn 4 by just .063 seconds.
Wagner held on for third despite a rough running engine, which later was discovered to be a spark plug wire that had come off during the lap 10 caution period. Betts padded his point lead by continuing his streak of top 4 finishes, which is now in all 8 events this season. Tim Iulg settled for fifth. Rounding out the top ten were Hard Charger Rick Lafferty who started 12th, Dj Tanner, Aiden Borden, Andrew Turpin and Kenny Laureno.
MASS will be back in action on Friday, July 10th at the Spirit Auto Center Speedway ¼ mile at Bridgeport Motorsports Park in Swedesboro, NJ for Series event #9 of 2026. Teams will be battling for $1000 to win in the Next Generation Construction sponsored event. Pit gates open at 4pm, Grandstands at 5pm, with cars on the track at 6pm.
