FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE………

(August 8, 2026):  Jared Kreider of Stockton, NJ returned to racing on Saturday night after a month long illness & proceeded to park his #24 in victory lane at the Bridgeport Speedway. Kreider chased Tim Iulg thru lapped traffic and used a late restart to his advantage to win the 25 lap feature for the DCB Plumbing & Heating Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series presented by Capitol Renegade. Kreider swept the night as he also set fast time in hot laps and won his 8-lap heat race.

“I am a little tired but I feel better than I thought I would,” stated Kreider after the race, “I knew I was fast and could gain on him a little in lapped traffic, and we had some luck on our side tonight getting that last restart when Tim (Iulg) lost his front wing.”

Shelby Kelly and Kreider brought the field to the start with Kreider grabbing the early lead. However Iulg who started on the second row had other ideas and dove under Kreider on lap two to take command. Iulg had the car set up perfectly as he raced away from Kreider and Kelly as point leader Troy Betts battled with western PA hot shoe Jeremy Kornbau for the 4th position.  Eddie Wagner, who had just missed the redraw in his heat, was on the move as he broke into sixth just before halfway and set his sights on Kornbau.  Lapped traffic became a factor during the second half of the race, Iulg masterfully threaded the needle several times as Kreider tried to keep pace.

With just five laps remaining Iulg had caught 12th place runner Rick Lafferty, the MASS winner one week ago, and found him running almost the same speed. As Iulg tried to find a way by, Kreider began closing in quickly for what was shaping up to be a battle in traffic. However, with two laps to go, the first and only caution appeared for Andrew Turpin who was coasting to a stop on the backstretch. At this same time, the leader’s front wing came off and was laying on the track in turn #2, fortunately for him after the yellow had come out for Turpin. The single file restart was a 2 lap dash for the win and Kreider immediately tried to take advantage of it by diving under Iulg in turn one, but Iulg powered around him and led back to the white flag. Kreider kept the pressure on and executed the same move in Turn one on the final lap to complete the pass and take his second career win with the MASS series almost exactly one year after his first ever win last season. It was his first win at Bridgeport.

Iulg settled for second with no front wing, as point leader posted his 12th top five finish in 13 events as he grabbed third from Shelby Kelly on that final restart. Kelly came home fourth for her best finish of the year followed by Kornbau who made the 6.5 hour tow to Bridgeport pay off with a fifth place finish.

The All-State Auto Glass Heats were won by Kreider and Ryan Schultz, both first time heat winners this season.

MASS will be back at it in two weeks on Saturday August 22nd at the Bridgeport Motorsports Park in Swedesboro, NJ. Pit gate opens at 4pm, Grandstands at 5pm, & cars on the track at 6pm.
