The DCB Plumbing and Heating Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series (MASS) presented by Capitol Renegade is proud to officially welcome "Pistol Pete" Wortman as the new voice of the series as it prepares to celebrate its 10-year anniversary season.
Wortman brings decades of announcing experience and a deep-rooted connection to Northeast dirt track racing. Most notably, he served as the track announcer at the historic New Egypt Speedway for an incredible 27 years, as well as being lead announcer at Georgetown Speedway, along with voicing for select Brett Deyo's Short Track Super Series events, becoming one of the most recognized and respected voices in the region. For nearly three decades, he called feature victories, championship battles, and countless unforgettable Saturday nights, helping shape the fan experience at one of the area’s most storied dirt tracks.
Now, as MASS enters its milestone 10th season, Wortman steps into the booth to help usher in a new chapter.
“Pete has been part of the fabric of this sport for decades,” said Erika Wagner, MASS General Manager. “As we celebrate ten years of Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series competition, it’s exciting to have a voice with his experience and credibility telling the story of our drivers and teams. I grew up hearing Pete and Nick (Leach) at NES every weekend as a kid, then as a driver, and now as a Promoter, so I feel honored that he is joining our MASS family this year. We are all very excited for this addition, and I look forward to working with him. I know he will help take us to the Next Level this season."
From heat races to feature events, Wortman will provide play-by-play coverage, sponsor recognition, driver highlights, and post-race interviews — adding energy and professionalism to every race night.
As the series marks a decade of growth, strong competition, and memorable moments, the 10th anniversary season promises to be one of the biggest yet — and now it will have a seasoned voice to match the occasion.
