FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE………

(May 29, 2026):  Defending series champ Troy Betts of Middletown, DE captured his first ever win in his home state on Friday at the Georgetown Speedway. Betts took the lead from Cody West on lap 14 and went on to post his first win of the year in the fourth event of 2026 for the  DCB Plumbing & Heating Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series presented by Capitol Renegade. Betts pocketed a cool $1000 for the win courtesy of Betts Garage Towing and Hauling.

“We have tried to win here so many times only to have something happen,” stated Betts following the race, “It feels great to finally get this monkey off our back and break through in our home state!”

Cody West grabbed the lead at the start of the 25 lap event as fourth place starter DJ Tanner charged up into second. Tanner quickly showed some muscle as he began to challenge West, as Troy Betts took over the third spot on lap #3. Tanner pressured West in the corners on the inside, however West would drive away on each straightway. By lap 6 West began opening up a larger lead as now Betts reeled in Tanner. Betts tried the outside several times but it was the inside groove that would work as he took second on lap 11. It became quickly obvious that Betts had found something as he closed the half straightaway gap in just two laps. Once Betts caught the leader it took just two turns for him to drive his #22 under West for the lead. As Betts drove away third place DJ Tanner had his hands full with Eddie Wagner, as Wagner’s car was now getting faster. This duo was joined by Tim Iulg as the threesome put on a crowd pleasing battle for the third position. The final five laps saw Cody West bounce back and close in on leader Betts once again, getting as close as three car lengths in lapped traffic. However Betts remained smooth and drove to his fifth career MASS victory by 2 seconds.

Cody West posted his best finish of the year so far, coming home a strong second. Eddie Wagner, after a slow start, was the fastest car on the track over the final five laps and brought his #70 home in third. DJ Tanner and Tim Iulg completed the top 5.
