FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE………

(June 12, 2026):  Adam Carberry of Hilltown, PA opened the Joe Kay Memorial weekend at Bridgeport Speedway by capturing the DCB Plumbing & Heating Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series feature event presented by Capitol Renegade. Carberry got the lead back on lap 12 when leader Eddie Wagner got caught up in a crash of lapped cars, and went on to post his second career MASS victory in the Tanner Bros. Dairy Store Preliminary night 25 lap feature.

“I was hoping to catch Eddie (Wagner) in lapped traffic, as he was just pulling away. That was a tough break for him,” stated Carberry in victory lane, “This weekend is about our friend Joey Kay, we all have a lot of great memories of him and I am excited to win this race in his honor.”

Cody West brought the field to the start with second starter Carberry alongside for most of the first lap.  Carberry powered around West in turns 3 & 4 to lead the opening two 2 laps, before a pair of yellows slowed the action. Eddie Wagner grabbed second on the restart and began to pressure Carberry as the duo raced side by side for two laps before Wagner wrestled the lead away. Lap 5 saw the red flag fly for a three car tangle on the backstretch that saw Matt McAnally roll onto his side on top of Andrew Turpin and Bobby DeVault. All drivers were uninjured.  The ensuing restart saw Wagner drive away from Carberry with relative ease as tenth starting Troy Betts swept from fifth to third, as the point leader was once again charging to the front. With 10 laps in the books Wagner led by 12 car lengths as he approached lapped traffic, with Carberry slowly trying to close in. However a new battle for the lead would never materialize as on lap 12 two lapped cars would tangle in turn #1 right in front of the leader. Wagner was able to clear the first spun car of Ryan Stillwaggon, however the second car of Tyler Grau slid up the track blocking the leader’s path. With nowhere to go, Wagner tangled with Grau ending his night & his bid for his 10th career MASS victory.

With the track clear Carberry had the point leader Troy Betts to contend with on the restart, but he was up to the challenge and pulled away from the pack. 12th place starter Rick Lafferty began pressuring Betts for the runner-up position and this pair put on a crowd pleasing battle right to the end of the race. Carberry drove off to the win in just his third event since returning to 305 sprint competition. Betts held off a persistent Lafferty for second, padding his point lead with his sixth consecutive top three finish in 6 events!  Lafferty overcame picking the worst number in the Tanner Bros. Dairy Store feature redraw, passing 9 cars to finish third.  Mikey Smith from Scranton PA came home fourth in his first MASS start of 2026. Pole sitter Cody West posted his second top five finish in the last 3 series races as he rounded out the top five.

The Scarlett Oaks Wholesale Nursery Tire Change Pit Crew Challenge was won by Eddie Wagner’s team as they pocketed the $500 cash prize.  Wagner’s crew edged out the crew of Dan Leaper’s #24L. Shelby Kelly’s crew finished third.
